Welcome to Kristine Running Wolf´s fine beadwork and jewelry. All items are designed and made by me. If you don´t find what you are looking for please let me know, I gladly accept custom orders.
Born and raised in Europe, I came to Alaska in 1995. After visiting Fort Yukon, Barrow, Nome and Arctic Village I settled in Fairbanks for about 5 years. When the opportunity for living in a remote cabin came around, I couldn't resists and moved to the Crazy Mountains. Off grid, running water down the roof, an outhouse with a view and more bears running around in the yard than I was able to count. Five didn't leave, a few lynx and numerous birds also stayed. In 2010 I moved back to Fairbanks, life became too tough in the bush, some might call it old age.
My artwork consists of two lines: Alaska animals and contemporary jewelry.
Materials used are Delica beads and other seed beads of all sizes, gem stones, Swarovski crystals and everything else I can drill a hole through for stringing .
There is no such thing as too many beads.
While living in the bush I took care of the animals that landed in my pots and pans. I learned to skin, to butcher, to tan and I cleaned most of the bones for use in my jewelry and other art products.
The "County Woman" magazine published my story in 1997, an article written by me was printed in the "Trappers Magazine" and one of my bone wind chimes was used in the movie "The Sorcerer’s Apprentice" with Nicholas Cage as the sorcerer. One of my beaded items won Grand Price at the Tanana Valley State Fair a few years back and I piled up some other rewards and acknowledgements.
Please come and visit at the Co-Op Arts downtown.
